Kate, who is three, wanted me to play with her. Sometimes playing games with a three-year-old can be tough. Sometimes Mommy runs out of creative ideas. This was one of those times.
From my tired perch on the couch, I pointed to the cat, Nikita, and said, "Look. Nikita is making funny faces!"
Nikita is our cat. She's just like any other 14-year-old tabby house cat. She doesn't make funny faces.
But, Kate was engaged. She ran over to the cat and laughed hysterically at her funny face. Kate made funny faces back at Nikita. Nikita tried to sleep. Kate laughed more.
Kate played, "Nikita is Making Funny Faces" for nearly 20 minutes. I was very proud of myself.
