Julie McCoy

Recently a friend and I were talking about how mom's often get the difficult job of planning fun activities for everyone in the family. Somehow we task ourselves with coming up with creative, educational, healthy, well rounded, exciting, inexpensive, unique, engaging, inclusive activities that every member of the family will enjoy together. Somewhere in the back of my mind I think it's my job to create these dynamic situations that will then foster warm childhood memories. Of course, the really fond memories are those that end up being made completely by accident.

Anyway, this friend said that she feels like cruise director Julie McCoy from the Love Boat. That got me thinking...

I'd like to see a spin off show where Julie McCoy from Love Boat and Dr. McCoy from Star Trek are married and raising a family on a farm in Idaho. Julie would be planning a constant stream of theme dinners, family reunions, and games designed to engage the children in doing farm tasks. Dr. McCoy would be complaining that he couldn't work miracles and trying to fix farm equipment and heal animals. In most cases the task would always seem impossible, but then he would find a solution a the last minute. To celebrate, Julie would throw a surprise party together before he got back to the house.
